Obituary for Richard D. Amos

Richard D. Amos of Point Pleasant Beach and formerly of Garfield, passed on May 1st, he was 89. Richard was born in Garfield, on Sept 22, 1927 to Nicholas and Anna (Novak) Amos. He had been a lifelong resident of Garfield until retiring to Point Pleasant Beach 18 years ago. He was actively involved in both Little League/Babe Ruth Leagues. Richard had served as a Detective for the Garfield Police Department, retiring in 1991. He was Chief of Garfield Fire Dept and a lifetime member of the Chiefs Assn and of PBA Local 46. Richard also served as Deputy Mayor on Garfield's City Council. He served on the Board of Education and was a Commissioner for the Housing Authority in Garfield. Richard is survived by his beloved children Cynthia Kovalycsik, Richard Jr. and his wife Bindu, Kevin and his wife Rosemarie, and Cheryl and her husband Ray Migliore. He is also the beloved grandfather of nine grandchildren and cherished great-granddaughters. Visiting 2-4 and 6-8 pm, Thurs, Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Ave, Wallington. A Funeral Service will be held 10am Fri, May 5th at the funeral home. Richard will be laid to rest at Crest Haven Memorial Park, Clifton.
