Wladyslawa Wyzykowski

August 30, 1940 — July 30, 2022

Wladyslawa Wyzykowski (Kozyra), 81, died peacefully in her home in Wallington, NJ on Saturday, July 30, 2022, surrounded by her family. Known to family and friends as “Wladzia” or “Violet”, she was born in Poreba Wielka, Poland to Wladyslaw and Anna (Krzysztofiak) Kozyra. Although born during the thrust of World War II and the invasion of Poland by the Germans the year before; she was born into a loving and caring family who survived and stuck together in these worst of times. She immigrated to the US in 1962 with the help of her Uncle Joseph and Aunt Ludwika Kruczek who loved and cared for her as their own child; leaving behind her parents and siblings to begin a new life in the US. She also left behind her sweetheart, Zdzislaw Edward Wyzykowski, who gave her a love letter, a ring, and a promise at the time of her departure from Poland. While in the US, Wladzia worked as a seamstress on 1st Street in Passaic, NJ and took English Language classes at night. After several years, Wladzia received her immigration status allowing her to travel and she returned to Poland to marry, Zdzislaw Edward Wyzykowski on June 19, 1965. Uncle Joseph escorted her to Poland for the nuptial ceremony and she and Uncle Joseph returned to the US. Her new husband Zdzislaw, arrived shortly after in December 1965 and they both settled in Wallington, NJ beginning their married life together. Wladzia’s dream was to not only settle down and become a mother and homemaker, but to also embrace the US as her lifelong home and to be a good and devoted US citizen being that she had this opportunity that changed her life forever. Wladzia worked hard, she looked after her Aunt and Uncle as they were elderly, and she looked after her three children who arrived one by one beginning in April 1967. She also continued her English Language classes at night and soon after in August 1969, she became a Naturalized Citizen of the United States. She was a master in the kitchen; always cooking delicious meals and she was very crafty at the sewing machine and dressed her children in the many creations she made. Once the children started school, she participated in their school trips as a chaperone and attended, Back to School Nights; meeting and greeting her children’s teachers to be sure all was in order; she drove the girls to Brownies and Girl Scout meetings and her son to his drum lessons. Once established in her home life, Wladzia never forgot about her family she left behind. She sponsored each sibling or their spouse thereof; allowing each family unit an opportunity to be in the US and prosper before returning to their families abroad. The long-standing joke is that her son’s room was always “on temporary loan” to make room for the next family member who came to visit. Her husband worked at night and Wladzia worked during the day. Once her children were in Elementary School, Wladzia returned to working full time at Glaxo-Smith-Kline (Beecham) in Clifton, NJ and after over 30 years of service she retired in July 2006 as a Supervisor on the Production Line. She was very proud of her work and helped many find a job at Glaxo-Smith Kline and most of all she made many friends while working there. Wladzia enjoyed her retirement – allowing her to spend more time with her husband and grandchildren and go on short trips to nearby lakes and beaches. She had beautiful sparkly blue eyes like the ocean, she had a great smile, a wonderful laugh and always a kind word to offer. She was busy being a homemaker, cooking and sewing and she would find some time to spend with friends attending church field trips together. How she managed to do it all; she did somehow. She is to be mostly remembered for being a devoted wife to her husband, Zdzislaw for 57 years, a good friend, a past member of the Polish American Club of North Jersey, a devoted parishioner of Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church; but most of all; her greatest gift was that of being a mother and the love she gave unconditionally and endlessly to her three children. She is survived by her loving husband, Zdzislaw Edward Wyzykowski, her three devoted children; her daughter, Lucille “Lucy” Baginski and her husband Stanley; her daughter, Susan Strama, and her husband Piotr and lastly, her son, Mark Edward Wyzykowski and his wife Deborah. Her loving grandchildren, Amanda, Lauren, Shawn, Samantha, Olivia, Diana, Alana and Stephen. In Poland, remaining are her siblings, her sister, Maria Kozyra, and her husband Michal; her brother, Aleksander Kozyra and his wife, Zofia. Her sister in laws, Maria Kozyra and Stanislawa Kozyra and many nieces, nephews and countless family members and friends. She is predeceased by her three brothers in Poland, Franek Kozyra, Józef Kozyra and Stanislaw Kozyra.
