William "Benny" Kullaf III, a lifelong, Wallington resident and former Fire Chief, entered eternal life on June 5th, 2019, Benny was born in Hackensack, NJ on December 26, 1957 to Margaret (Sopchak) and William Kullaf Jr. He was a graduate of the Wallington High School Class of 1975. Benny was married to his beloved wife Donna Rappise on July 2nd, 1983 at Our Lady of Sorrows in Garfield. Benny also had a very distinguished record with the Wallington Fire Department, starting as a member of the Wallington Junior F.D. 1973-1976 Lieutenant & Captain; member of Park Row Hose Co. 1973-1976 to present, where he was also a life member. He served as Vice President and President for 6 years of Co. #3; also serving as a Trustee, Lieutenant and Captain, and was currently an Engineer. He had served as Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, and Chief of Department in 2010. He served on both the 75th and 85th Anniversary Committee of Hose Co #3; in 1985 on the Truck committee. He had been a Past President of the Wallington Fire Department, a former member of the Wallington Emergency Squad, a member of the Wallington Exempt Firemen's Association, where he also served as a Past President, and a member of the Wallington Fire Department's Comic Team. He was a life member of the NJ State Firemen's Association, the NJ State Exempt Firemen's Association, the South Bergen Fire Chiefs Association, South Bergen Chiefs Zone 2, and a Crew and Mutual Aid Association member. Benny served as a Delegate for NJ & NY Volunteer Firemen's Association, the NJ State Volunteer Firemen's Association, and the North Jersey Volunteer Firemen's Association. He was also a member of the Six County Firemen's Association of PA, the Golden Horns Ex-Chiefs Club of Wallington Fire Department. For the past 33 years he had worked at Smith-Sondy Paving, and was a paving foreman. Benny is survived by his beloved wife Donna, his two devoted sons, BJ and Andrew, and his dear sister Patricia Ramazzana. Visiting 2-4 and 7-9 pm, Monday, June 10th, Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Ave, Wallington, NJ. Friends and family will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 11th at 9:30 am.
