Vivian Desbiens of Calabash, North Carolina; previously of Wallington, NJ, entered eternal life on November 6, 2024; she was 92. Vivian was born in Passaic, NJ, on October 13, 1932, to Peter and Estella Slaynasky.
Vivian graduated from Lodi High School in 1949 and enrolled in Berkeley Secretarial School. The majority of Vivians professional career was spent with the Borough of Wallington. She held many positions, including Borough Clerk Secretary and Tax Collector.
In 1951, Vivian met the love of her life, Joseph Desbiens, at a dance in Paterson. Two years later, they were married at The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
The newlyweds realized the American Dream and settled in Wallington on MT. Pleasant Ave., starting their family. They were married 40 years prior to his death in 1994.
Vivian was a faithful parishioner of the Transfiguration of our Lord PNC. She was always active and willing to lend a helping hand in any church function, whether making perogies, the yearly tricky tray extravaganza, or simply lending a helping hand.
Vivian was best known for her Meat Pies, friendly smile, and positive demeanor. She was adamant that no one could leave her home hungry and hosted many family and friend holidays.
In 2017, Vivian started the next chapter of her life, moving to Calabash, North Carolina, with her daughter Susan. She enjoyed five years of good health, traveling, meeting new friends, and fine food.
She Joined the Senior Center, Bingo, walks in the park and trips to the beach.Vivian loved pampering herself with visits to Sandies Salon for hair and nails.
She is Survived by her devoted children, Susan and her husband Steven Cmar, of Calabash North Carolina, Bernie and his Wife Beverly of Wallington , Jim and his wife Noreen of Midland Park. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Alyson and her husband Bruce , Kimberly, Douglas and his wife Natasha, Paul (Dec.d), Emily (Dec.d), Kaitlin and her husband Jason, Jimmy, and Hailey; great-grandchildren Stella and Bruce. Her dear brother Peter and his wife Elaine. And many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
