Theodore Warner

Theodore Paul Warner (Ted) of Merritt Island, Florida, and formerly of Bardonia, New York, entered eternal life on June 15th, 2020, he was 95. Ted was born in Manhattan, NY on November 12th, 1924, to Theodore and Marjorie (Lawrence) Warner. He was raised in Nanuet, NY and attended High School in Pearl River, NY, until he entered the United States Marine Corps., in January of 1942 at the age of 17. Ted served in the Pacific Theater of Operations from 1942 to 1944 and the American Theater from August 1945 to November of 1945. He fought against the enemy on Guadacanal Jan 1943 to Feb 1943, Tarawa 20 November 1943 to 26 November 1943 and and was wounded in action at the battle of Saipan, on June 15th, 1944, earning his Purple Heart. His unit received the Presidential Unit Citation with Star. He was married to his beloved wife of 73 years, Frances (Ehrhardt) at the Marine Corps Base at Camp Lejeune, NC on July 14th, 1945. After WWII, the couple made Bardonia, NY their home. Ted had worked as an Attendant at the Rockland State Psychiatric Hospital in Blauvelt for a short time, prior to opening Ted's Mobil Gas Station, on Route 304 in Bardonia, NY. He operated his gas station and mechanic shop until health reasons made it necessary to move to a warmer climate in 1969, at which time they moved to Titusville, Florida. In 1976 they moved to their new home in Merritt Island, Florida, and have lived on the island ever since. Ted started working for Brevard County as their Animal Control Officer. In March of 1979 while having lunch, Ted heard an explosion and ran to his neighbors house, and was credited along with his son in saving three young men from certain death. While living on the canal in Merritt Island Ted could be found working on his boat, getting ready for a day trip out on the Bananna or Indian River, or even a deep sea fishing trip. In later years, after Ted's retirement the boat was traded in for an RV, and he and Fran could be found traveling throughout the continental United States, something they truly enjoyed, especially visiting family and friends along the way. Ted could also be found in his wood working shop, making wagons for his great-grandson, or hope-chests for his granddaughters, or new and improved shelving systems for Fran's closets or the RV. Ted was predeceased by his cherished daughter Barbara Jean Warner on February 5th, 1962. Ted is survived by his five loving and devoted children, Mitch and Mary Warner, Gary Warner, Sister Joan Warner, Kurt and Dawn Warner, and Ann and Tom Sullivan. He is also survived by his 10 beloved grandchildren and their spouses Brian and Deb Warner, Kimberly and John Patterson, Denise and Martin Binder, Lori and Jeremiah Warsing, Gregory and Elizabeth Sullivan, Jonathan and Michelle Warner, Shannon and Edward Lam, Christa and Dave Ling, Caleigh Warner and Samantha Greenwell and 12 cherished great-grandchildren Alexys, Barbara, Ruby, Robert, Eve, Ella, Holly, Alexandria, Charlotte, Christian, Leah and Casanova; and his beloved sister Bess McLeod, as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 4 – 7 pm, Friday, June 26th, 2020 at Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Ave, Wallington, NJ 07057. A funeral service will be held, at 7pm at the funeral home. A Marine Corps burial detail service will be held 11am, Saturday, June 27th, St. Anthony's Cemetery, 36 West Nyack Road, Nanuet, NY. Family and friends will meet in the cemetery parking lot and will be observing social distancing standards and requirements; which will be enforced by cemetery rules.
