Richard “Cappy” Kapusta, a devoted and lifelong resident of Wallington entered eternal life on, June 24th, he was 80. Richard was born at home in Wallington, on September 20, 1940, to John and Josephine (Tomczyk) Kapusta. He was a graduate of the Wallington High School, Class of 1959. Richard married Dorothy Boettcher on October 28, 1961, at the Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church in Hasbrouck Heights; Their reception was held at the VFW Post Hall in Wallington. Richard was a proud member of the Teamsters, Chapter 560 of Union City, and had worked for Joseph Sanzari as a construction driver, retiring in 2006. He had also been an owner operator of the Wall-Nut Trucking Company, worked at Holmes Motor Freight in Carlstadt, as well as Exxon and Getty fuel companies. Richard is survived by his beloved wife and “Honey” of 59 years, his three devoted children, Audra and her husband Scott Shuster, Brenda Kapusta and Richard Kapusta. He is also survived by his three cherished grandchildren Brielle, Jared, and Nicole. Richard, better known as “Cappy” by those of the Wallington Fire Department Engine 202 and the Wallington Emergency Squad, where he had volunteered for over 50 years. Former Mayor Mark Tomko of Wallington had appointed Cappy as an Honorary Chief, in honor of his tireless efforts and support of his Fire and Emergency Services to the residents of the Borough of Wallington. Visiting for friends and family 2 – 4 pm, Monday, June 28th, Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service. The Wallington Fire Department and Members of Engine 202, will hold a ceremonial visitation from 6 -8 pm. A funeral service will be held 10am, Tuesday, June 29th at the funeral home. Richard “Cappy” Kapusta will be laid to rest at St. Michael’s Cemetery, 120 Saddle River Road, South Hackensack, NJ following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to the Wallington Fire Department or the Wallington Emergency Squad.
