Phyllis T. Soltys of Garfield, entered eternal life Jan 27th, she was 74. Phyllis was born in Passaic, NJ on Oct 12th, 1942 to George and Anna (Oczkowski) Popek. She was raised in Passaic and graduated from Pope Pius H.S. Class of 1960. She had also been a CCD teacher for the Holy Rosary Church in Passaic. Phyllis moved to Garfield after her marriage to Andrew Soltys on Sept 19th, 1971; he predeceased her in Nov 2000. Phyllis enjoyed drawing and art but more important was her love of being a mom, grandma and great grandmother. Phyllis was a devoted parishioner of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and had also worked as an Election Poll Worker for many years. Phyllis is survived by her daughter Mary Beth Soltys and her Garfield Firefighting sons James and John Soltys of Truck 4; and her youngest son Gregory Soltys. She is survived by her cherished granddaughter Krista Soltys and her great-granddaughters Trinity and Scarlett Cole. She is also survived by her sister Jean Lasser.
