Michael Fedorchak

August 5, 1943 — May 1, 2016

Michael Fedorchak, Jr., 72, succumbed to his illness after a long, hard-fought struggle, on May 1, 2016. He was born August 5, 1943, to Helen (Lyos) and Michael Fedorchak, Sr. Michael was an avid story teller and would entertain his audience with tales of growing up on Alden Street in Wallington. Living across the street from Washington School, he would help Mr. Hettel set up the swings on the playground; or how, in the summer, he would leave the house in the morning, return only for a quick pear from the tree in the backyard, and return to play stick ball until supper; his many jobs on 8th Street; his exploits with cousin Johnny; crystal radios; the clubhouse they built on a vacant lot on Alden Street and how he set it on fire. He served proudly in the U.S. Army and was shipped to Vietnam in 1965, being honorably discharged in 1967. Michael always enjoyed relaying the many tribulations and close encounters he endured while there. He was a longtime member of VFW Pavlick Koster Post 2640, and the 4th Infantry Division Assoc NY/NJ Chapter. Michael was a very hard worker. Upon returning from Vietnam he secured a job with Ford and worked there for 13 years. His quality of work was so well known that department managers would seek him out for extra work. When Ford closed the Edison plant, he went to work, as a welder, for Falstrom Company in Passaic Park, where he retired, just under 25 years. Here again his work was so exemplary that he was asked to do a project for the Museum of Natural History in New York. Michael was married to Barbara (Stefanik); May 1st was their 29th wedding anniversary. Michael also leaves behind his three daughters: Cheryl Fedorchak and her husband Jason Brown; Julie Fitzsimmons and her husband Ethan; and Lauren Fedorchak; and his stepdaughter Heather Pavlic; also three grandchildren: William Fitsimmons, Emerson Fitzsimmons and Alexis Brown. He was predeceased by his brother Gerald. Viewing Fri, May 6th, 2 - 4 and 7 – 9 pm Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Ave, Wallington. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10am, Sat, May 7th, at The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 127 Paterson Ave, Wallington. Flowers are welcomed. WarnerAndWozniak.com
