Mary A. of East Rutherford entered eternal life, on Sept 26th; she was 94. Mary was born in Clarence, PA on May 4th, 1918 to Andrew and Elizabeth Matash. As a young child the family moved to East Rutherford, where Mary has lived all of her life. On Jan 31, 1942 Mary married Michael J. German Sr., at St. Mary’s Church in Passaic. They were married for 57 years until Michael’s death in July 1999. Until 1969, Mary had worked as a syringe inspector for Becton Dickinson for 23 years. A short time later, she began working as an assistant housekeeper at the Rectory of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in Wallington. She enjoyed crocheting, and family trips to the theater in Lancaster, PA. Mary was also a member of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Rosary Confraternity. She is survived by her loving children, Father Michael German, Parochial Vicar at Church of St. Peter the Apostle in River Edge; Richard J. German and his wife Betty of East Rutherford; Ruth Cressen and her husband James of Toms River, and Carol Nadler of Toms River. Mary was predeceased by 6 brothers, 1 sister and her son in law Robert Nadler. She is also survived by her six beloved grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be said at 10 AM, Monday at Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 127 Paterson Ave. Wallington. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Saddle Brook.
