Mary Elizabeth German

Betty German, of East Rutherford, entered eternal life on January 5th, 2025, she was 79. Betty was born on July 4, 1945 to William and Mary Stapleton, in Dublin, Ireland. She was raised in Lucan, Ireland, coming to the United States in with her family in 1953, and settled in Passaic, NJ. She attended Passaic High School and graduated in 1963; and continued to make a career in nursing. She became an LPN, and worked for St. Mary's Hospital for many years, before joining several doctors in private practice. On December 11th, 1971, Betty married Richard German at St. Nicholas in Passaic. Richard died on February 28th, 2024. Betty was also known for her work in the cafeterias' of Immaculate Conception High School and Most Sacred Heart Grammar School. She was a member of The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Rosary Confraternity, and a founding member of the Share and Care Program, and has also spent many years as an Adult Altar Server. Betty is survived by her beloved son Richard German, and her brother in law, Father Mickey German, and sisters in law, Ruth Cressen, Carol Nadler. She was predecesed by her beloved daughter in law, Dr. Christine M. German, August 3, 2021; and her dear sister, Helen Stapleton. Visiting, Monday, January 13th, 4-7 pm, and Tuesday, January 14th, 9:30am - 10:00am, Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Avenue, Wallington, NJ. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30am, Tuesday, January 14th, The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 127 Paterson Avenue, Wallington, New Jersey 07057.
