Lydia Ziomek (nee Shaposhnikowa) died on May 7th at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the beloved mother of Sophie Krezel and husband Ted of Milton, Delaware; Helen Gaydos of Collingswood, Irene Keklak and husband Bob of Cinnaminson and John Ziomek and wife Maureen of Lyndhurst. She was the cherished grandmother of Joseph, Robert, Brian, Katherine, Steven, Alexis, John, and Christopher, and was the adored great-grandmother of Abigail, Emily, Ryan, Samantha, Quinn, and Danielle. Her surviving loving relations in the Ukraine include her sister Nina, nephew Sergei, Lila, Alexander, Olga, and Andrew. Lydia was born in the Ukraine in 1922. She was taken to Germany as forced labor during WWII where she met her husband Jozef (deceased). She immigrated with her husband and 2 daughters to Passaic, NJ in 1951, before settling in Garfield where she resided for the past 50 years. She was a employed at National Biscuit Company and Beecham, and has enjoyed life, family, gardening, and her home since retiring in 1985.
