Lucy B. McAlevey of Garfield, died on Sept. 9th, 2011; she was 83. Lucy was born in Passaic, NJ on Aug. 23, 1928 to Wojciech “George” and Maria (Grabiec) Buczek; she was one of 5 children. Along with her sister Phyllis Rzepecki of Passaic, who survives, she had 3 brothers who predeceased her; Stanley, Thaddeus “Ted” and Walter Buczek who was killed in action, during WWII. Lucy grew up in Passaic, NJ where she proudly graduated from the Passaic High School, Class of ’46. During the late 1940’s and 1950’s Lucy worked for Popular Merchandise of Passaic, and Shulton of Clifton, in their Quality Control Departments. On Sept. 21st, 1957 she married Edward A. McAlevey. He predeceased her in 1987. Lucy is survived by her three beloved children, Laura McAlevey and husband James Baillargeon of Iselin, NJ; Thomas E. McAlevey of Garfield; and Mary Ellen McAlevey and husband David Friedman of Toms River. Lucy was a Parishioner of Most Holy Name in Garfield, and a member of the Holy Name Seniors. Her hobbies included baking, cooking and reading. Visiting Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 pm, Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Ave, Wallington, NJ. Mass of the Resurrection, 10 AM Tuesday, Church of the Most Holy Name, 99 Marsellus Pl., Garfield. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook.
