Leokadia Grochola of Elmwood Park, surrounded by her devoted family, entered eternal life on Thursday, September 17th, she was 92. Leokadia was born in Poznan, Poland on November 6th, 1927, to Wawrzyniec and Maria (Skiba) Szymczak. She was married to her beloved husband Roman in Jawor, Poland in 1948; he predeceased her in 2006. She came to the United States in 1973 and lived in Clifton, until moving to Elmwood Park in 1997. She had worked at the Dexter Knitting Mill in Wallington until her retirement in 1989. She faithfully volunteered for The Adam Mickiewicz Polish School in Passaic for over ten years. Leokadia also enjoyed knitting blankets for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her loving children Krzysztof Grochola, Krystyna Szymankiewicz, Maryla Mesloub and Elzbieta Igielski. She is also survived by her cherished 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Leokadia is also survived by her dear sister Stefania Grzegorzko. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 am, Saturday, September 19th, 2020, St. Joseph's Church 7 Parker Ave. Passaic, New Jersey 07055, there will be no visitation at the funeral home.
