Worthy Sir Knight John Tomcho, of Garfield, on July 6th, he was 81. John was born in Coal Castle, PA on November 9t, 1934 to Michael and Bertha (Gretsky) Tomcho. In 1943 the family moved to Passaic, and moved to Garfield in the 1950's. John was a graduate of the Vo-Tech High School in Passaic. For over 59 years John was a loyal and dedicated Altar Server at the Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel in Passaic, where he had been a parishioner for over 73 years. The Cathedral was nearly a second home for John where he served on every committee, in every position he could and volunteered countless hours. John had been a member of the Boy Scouts and earned the distinct honor of Eagle Scout. He had been a member of the Passaic Rescue Squad, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Juan Perez Council #262, Passaic and a Knight of the Fourth Degree, Worthy Sir Knight John Tomcho, of the Msgr. Stein Assembly. John loved dancing, polkas, and going on "cruise" vacations. John had retired from Delux Printing in Mountain Lakes, where he had been a draftsman. John is survived by his beloved and devoted sisters Ann Cupta and Irene Luka, and many beloved nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his dear parents, his dear sisters Mary Kosick, Laverne Radjewski and brother Michael Tomcho. Visiting Monday, July 11th, 4 pm - 7 pm, Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Ave, Wallington, NJ, A prayer vigil will be held at 4:30 pm, and at 6:45pm. The funeral will be celebrated 10 am, Tues, July 12th, at The Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel, 96 1st St, Passaic. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that contributions be made to the Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel in John's memory.
