John Pastorick, Sr., of Garfield, died on May 25, 2014, he was 98. John was born on August 31, 1915 to John and Anna Pastorick in Scranton, PA. He was raised in Scranton, and worked at Giant Supermarkets, where he was a role model and star employee. In 1943 he came to New Jersey and worked at Curtiss-Wright during WWII. After the war he worked for the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P), as a Butcher. He retired 35 years ago from the Paterson Unit, Local 464, perfecting his tomato gardening and train hobbies. Within the last few weeks, he had just finished planting and tending to his eighty tomato plants. John was also a parishioner of St. Michaels Cathedral in Passaic.
John is predeceased by his beloved wife Anna, and thirteen brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving son John and his wife Ann Pastorick, his daughters, Janet and husband Frank Szewczyk, Patricia Konczak and Kathleen and husband David Brandes. John is also survived by his brother Martin Pastorick, six devoted grandchildren and four cherished great-grandchildren. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, 10 am, St. Michael's Cathedral, 96 First Street, Passaic. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery, South Hackensack, NJ.
