Joan A. Kennedy (nee Fox), entered eternal life on February 18th, she was 72. Joan was born in Fremont, Nebraska on April 7th, 1946 to Otto and Gertrude (Kelly) Fox. As a young child the family came to New York City, settling in the Bronx. On December 4th, 1971, she married her beloved husband John Kennedy of over 46 years, and has lived in Yonkers since 1971. John predeceased Joan in May of 2018. Joan was a dedicated caregiver and nurse's aide, working for over 35 years at the Parkview Nursing Home in the Bronx. Over the years, Joan was known to bring home seniors who had no family, so that they could enjoy a home cooked holiday meal. She would also go out of her way to help those with no family celebrate birthdays and holidays when they were unable to travel. Joan was an extraordinary caregiver to patients suffering with AIDS during the onset of the epidemic in the 1980's. She was one of the few nursing aides willing to sit and hold hands with those who were sick and dying. She also went and volunteered to hold infants born with AIDS, and would sit and rock the children, offering them unconditional love. Joan was currently making preparations to move to Las Vegas, where she was going to live with her daughter, and was looking forward to the move in May of this year. Joan is survived by her beloved children, Margaret Groovenhoff, Deborah and her husband Brian Warner, Tina and her husband Kevin Hazy and John and his wife Cherilyn Kennedy. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Patricia, Julia, Alexis, Alicia, Jabari, and Jade. She is also survived by her dear brother Danny and his wife Carol Fox, and dear sister Ann Fox, as well as many nieces and nephews. Joan is also survived by her beloved dog Rocky, who has been a constant source of comfort since John's passing. A funeral Mass will be celebrated prior to visitation, 4pm, Thursday, February 28th at the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church 127 Paterson Ave, Wallington, NJ. Visitation will follow from 6-9 pm, Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Ave, Wallington, NJ.
