Irvin R. Tchon, R.Ph., Ph.D. born April 28, 1922 and passed away November 24, 2012, beloved son of the late Catherine (nee Sosnowski) and Joseph Tchon, loving father of Sharon of Acton, MA., dear grandfather of Andrew, Michael, Nicole and Nathalie, fond brother of the late Lorraine (late Frank) Sowa, Virginia of Chicago, IL., Colonel Richard (late Maryanna) of Santa Fe, NM., Joseph (Rosalyn)of Mt. Prospect, IL., Cecelia (Carl) Kestler of Northbrook, IL., Mary Ann (Henry Miyashiro and late Mitchell) Soro of West Covina, CA., Wallace of Sunnyvale, CA., dear friend of Josephine Klos and Arthur Szydlowski, dearest uncle and great uncle to many.
Irvin graduated from the University of Illinois, College of Pharmacy and attended Wright College for Business Law and DePaul University Law School. He served as a State Pharmacy Inspector, Controlled Substance and Drug Investigator, and Florida Retail and Hospital Consulting Pharmacist.
He was a veteran of World War II, served with the 14th Air Force Flying Tigers, is a decorated disabled veteran and a member of Hump Pilots Association C.B.I. (China-Burma-India).
Irvin was a member of AMVETS Post #34, the DAV Post #5, the Polish American Veterans Post #72, the Polish National Alliance, the Polish Roman Catholic Union and the Polish American Pharmacist Association.
He was a candidate for the 8th Congressional District, the acting Republican Committeeman for the 30th Ward, and worked on election campaigns for presidents, senators, state representatives and city officials. He served on many political committees and was a delegate to state and national conventions.
Irvin was President of the Northwest Chicago Senior Citizens Legislative Council and led the campaign to establish the Copernicus Senior Center. His many voluntary contributions to his community were recognized in the Congressional Record, the Illinois House and Senate Official Records as well the City of Chicago.
