Fred Sadowsky

Fred Sadowsky of Indian River Shores – Vero Beach, Florida and formerly of Wallington, NJ, died on December 19, 2011; he was 90. Born in Passaic, NJ on Feb. 11, 1921 to Adam and Katherine (Szot) Sadowsky. During WWII, he proudly served in the US Army; and after the war, served in the US Naval Reserves, until June of 1955. Fred married Phyllis (Krawczyk) in 1946; and in 1952, they opened their family restaurant, Evergreen, (know now P. Bunyan’s) in Wallington, where Fred’s sizzling steak, and pizza were ledgendary. Fred has spent the past 20 years, sharing the history, stories and his escapades of Wallington, to all those on the Florida beaches. Fred enjoyed life, and was a consummate entertainer, historian and storyteller; he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Fred was a former member of the Hillside Club, the Wallington Rod and Gun Club, the VFW Post 2640, as well as many other interests throughout the years. Fred is predeceased by his beloved wife Phyllis (2001) and his son Robert (2007). He is survived by his loving daughter Kathleen Reimels-Wettstean, her husband Stephen; his son Glenn Sadowsky; a dear sister Sylvia DeFalco; and his three cherished grandchildren; Paul, Scott and Stefanie. He is also survived by his beloved cousin Sally Muhuski of Clifton, NJ. Visiting Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service 80 Midland Ave. Wallington, NJ. A mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday 10 AM at Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus; 127 Paterson Ave. Wallington, Interment will follow at St. Michaels Cemetery. Contributions to the Wallington Emergency Squad appreciated.
