Floyd G. Norris of Wallington, entered eternal life on Saturday, June 16th, 2018, he was 82. Floyd was born in Washington, D.C. on September 16th, 1935, to Floyd and Irene (Johnson) Norris. He was raised in Herndon, VA, and moved north when he tried out for Brooklyn Dodgers, however, Floyd entered the U.S. Army where he served for four years. On September 29th, 1962, Floyd was married to Mamie McKay. He began working in 1963 for Sterns Department Store in Paramus, where he was a retail purchaser until his retirement in 1990. The family moved to Wallington in 1974, and soon after Floyd became a fixture in the community. From 1974-1990 he served the Wallington Little League in every capacity, from umpire to coach. He also joined and served on the Wallington Emergency Squad, and in 1977 joined Wallington's Auxiliary/Special Police, where he retired as a Captain in 2017, after serving 40 years. In 1995 Floyd joined the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (I.A.T.S.E.) Local 59, as a stage hand, in Hudson County and retired in 2015. Floyd is survived by his devoted wife Mamie Norris, his two loving children; son David and his wife Linda Norris, his daughter Kimberly Weinberg and his cherished grandsons Joshua and Matthew Weinberg. A funeral will be celebrated 10am, Thursday, June 21st, 2018, Calvary Baptist Church 245 Passaic St, Garfield, NJ. Floyd will be laid to rest at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton, NJ, immediately following.
