Jennie T.  Marciniak (Skorupski)
Jennie (Janina Skorupska), after many months of suffering and pain, laid down the burden of her 89 years, shortly after 12:30 PM, on Sat, Nov 7th; peacefully dying to this world and setting forth to join her husband, parents, brothers and sisters in their eternal home with our Heavenly Father. Jennie was born on October 24th, 1926 on Jewel St, Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY, to Jan and Rozalja (Tyznik) Skorupski. In 1932 in the aftermath of the great depression; Jan Skorupski decided to return to Poland with his family, where he felt that there more favorable conditions to raise such a large family. Jennie settled with her family in the Village of Glinsko, in close proximity to the Town of Zolkiew, 40 km northwest from the City of Lwow. As a young girl of 13, she witnessed the Nazi invasion of Poland on Sept 1, 1939 and the Soviet invasion shortly after on Sept 17, 1939. She was an eyewitness to the atrocities and genocide committed against the Jewish and other ethnic minorities. Together with her family she was victim to the ethnic cleansing of the Wolyn Region and forced to flee to western occupied Poland for the remainder of WWII. In 1949, being an American Citizen by birth, she was entitled to return to the United States of America and settled in Jewett City, CT. She met Felix Marciniak, who was born in Waterbury, CT on Oct 8th, 1918, who was also raised in Poland and who had returned to the USA in 1946. They were married on Oct 28th, 1950 at St. Mary’s Church in Jewett City, CT and witnessed by the Rev. Walter Kloczko. As a married couple Felix and Jennie settled in Norwich, CT where they were employed as blue-collar workers in various factories, mills and sweat-shops. They were communicants of St. Joseph’s Polish Roman Catholic Church in Norwich, CT for many years. Felix Marciniak died on June 5th, 2003 in Norwich CT, after nearly 53 years of marriage. Jennie was predeceased by her siblings, Anton, Teresa, Kazimierz, Felicja, Karol, Maria, Emilia and Zygmunt. Jennie is survived by her three children; Very Reverend Canon Felix R. Marciniak of Wallington, NJ, Martha Jane Marciniak-Haynosch and Barbara Marciniak of CT, together with their spouses and six grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Piotr Skorupski of Lisbon, CT. Visiting Tuesday, 2-4 & 7-9 pm and Wed 2-4 pm only at Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Ave, Wallington, NJ. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 7 pm, Wed at The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 127 Paterson Ave, Wallington. Jennie will be laid to rest at a private committal service at St. Joseph Cemetery, Norwich, CT.
